Started by Kindra Cotton in 2009, SSS for Success (Simplified Social Media Solutions) was born out of the need to stay flexibly adaptive in an ever-changing, tech-intensive economy. The company, in its previous iteration, was originally part of the EASY Brand Marketing Program operating as a tertiary service within the program's "S" step. The overwhelming response to the Technology and Social Media portions of the program, coupled with the true need of many Middle Tennessee business owners to bring their business into the 21st Century, made SSS for Success self-styled Small Business Survival Specialists, specializing in preparing small and medium-sized organizations to take advantage of the free and low-cost marketing avenues that exists in the online arena.
But what did this mean in real terms?
- It meant getting companies a 5-Page Starter Website to take it from "no website" to "a web presence" (See our Success Stories).
- It meant setting up Facebook Fan Pages and promoting websites, thus allowing companies capitalize on the popularity of social media.
- It meant teaching folks how to use Twitter for business, or how to blog as an expert in your field in a way that brings you more business.
- And in some cases, it meant telling folks what a blog is, and why they should have one, and showing them it's not as hard as thought!
Over time, the benefits of having economical solutions to the challenges of navigating the social media landscape eventually landed the company firmly within the sights of non-profit/higher education organizations, as they too sought to embrace new media initiatives on already strained budgets. It was this experience that changed the Small Business Survival Specialists into Simplified Social Media Solutions, as the latter name more concisely conveys what the company does. Mastering the art of being nimble enough to respond to the needs of small businesses, SSS for Success is now able to apply this entrepreneurial mindset and use it with non-profits, government agencies, and university departments, many of which operate like small businesses with limited staff members wearing multiple hats.
